Professor Emeritus Michael Mullett will explore the history of religious dissent, including Catholics, Quakers and other prisoners of conscience, and describes how the state suppressed religious dissent at Lancaster Castle.

Dr. Robert Poole will explore the history of political dissent, in particular the trials of the Radicals and Chartists of the 19th century, including descriptions of the Lancaster trials of Luddites, Chartists and the Peterloo Massacre
