Matthew Wilson

Matthew Wilson describes his involvement in the protest at Lancaster University and the trial of what became known as the ‘George Fox 6.’ He describes how the establishment and the state continue to repress political activism in the 21st century.

Clip One (Above)

Matt describes how the ‘George Fox 6’ protested against the presence of multinational companies at Lancaster University and the implications this had for education.

Police would turn up, would often threaten us with arrest, would arrest us. I was arrested in the region of 10 times over the course of two or three years and never prosecuted.

Clip Two

Matt describes how animal rights activists were subject to constant police harassment for activities such as handing out vegan food

Clip Three

Matt describes the re-trial being moved from Lancaster Castle to Preston, probably because of the support for the George Fox 6 outside the Castle.
