Rosie James: Trident Ploughshares

Rosie James describes the Trident Ploughshares action in Barrow-in-Furness and subsequent trial in the courtroom at Lancaster Castle.

Clip One (Above)

Rosie describes the action in Barrow-in-Furness where she and another activist tried causing damage to the Trident submarine as part of a Ploughshares action, inspired by the biblical quote of ‘turning swords into ploughshares’. This followed the International Court of Justice ruling that found Trident illegal.

You feel the weight of history. The idea that I’m gonna change anything, that I can stand by my convictions in order to make a difference. You really start to doubt yourself.

Clip Two

Rosie describes the weight of Lancaster Castle’s feudal history intimidating her as she awaits trial at Lancaster Castle.
